Minor League Baseball Players Share Housing

Another great example of how people are sharing housing to manage high rents and low incomes. Plus they get to have new friends.

From Cincinnati a lovely article “Host Families Play Major Role in Minor League” on how minor league players are hosted by people who are willing to give them a place to hang their clothes and sleep. The hosts get VIP season passes in exchange. For the players it makes it possible for them to play baseball. TheirĀ  pay is too low for them to pay rent in two places. So during the season individuals open up their homes to the players.

One result is the creation of community. The players meet the people in the community and the community in turn supports their team. It’s a win/win for everyone.

What other examples of this sort of cooperative shared housing are there?
