Under One Roof: Sister, Brother, Spouses, and Children

House

Could you live your adult brother or sister? Here’s a family where the adults are brother and sister, each with a spouse and one child. Four adults, two children under one roof. Alexis describes how they do it in a guest post called, Co-housing:: Save Money, Share Resources, Have Fun! on the Money Saving Mom website.

She has a great list of benefits: financial and emotional. The kids have someone to play with and the adults get to share the maintenance work of life.  I love hearing about adult siblings enjoying one another and living together.

The article certainly sparked many reader comments. There are 91 of them ranging from “what a great idea” and “I did this too” to “there’s no way I could do this.” On balance more chiming in that they think it’s a great idea.  The comments are are illuminating. I think more people would try this if they had a roadmap for how to go it.

Do you think you could live with your sibling and family?
