Sex and the Three Cs

September 4, 2010

I found through Twitter a some good advice on how to live with housemates in an article, “Sex in the Ville: Roommate Rules” by Tara Carr. (No longer available on the Internet.)  It’s the three Cs:

  • Communicate
  • Cooperate
  • Consideration

Communicate your feelings and your annoyances.

Cooperate by realizing that you can pitch in and do it rather than waiting for your housemate to do it.

Consider that your housemate has their own experience, habits, and norms.  Living with people with different  habits and norms than yours can be fun, eye-opening or exasperating.  And that’s where communication and cooperation are important.

The three C’s are not so different from the principles for living with housemates I describe in my book.

Read through the article and she doesn’t mention sex anywhere, but it got my attention. Did it get yours?
