Home Share programs

Here’s a really nice article by Simon Murphy in The Guardian about a HomeShare arrangement in London.

It highlights the benefits of arrangement by describing how it works for 97-year old Barbara Clapham and 26-year old Beth Cooke. Beth has a low rent place to live in exchange for tasks that are easy for the young and increasingly difficult for the old.. Barbara has companionship and someone aware of her.  Particularly poignant is Ms. Clapham’s statement that all her friends are gone – she doesn’t have anyone she can call on simply to visit.

Homesharing is a really, really good idea.
